Four is the magic number

24 10 2007

Well, now that the dust has settled on the Rugby World Cup and the F1 season, I can write about a subject that has fallen under the shadow of the aforementioned for some time. Manchester United are on the rampage! 8 goals in 2 games, albeit against substandard opposition in Villa and half a Kiev team last night (and yes, I know Arsenal scored 7, but look who they were playing!)

The only way for them to go is to the top of the league and win the Champion’s League group with maximum points. Watch out Wenger, Fergie is looking hungry again.

….and another thing. Steve Rider is being vastly overworked. I know I have posted before about the coiffured one, but really! 7pm Sunday he is on screen at the end of the F1, then presumably he has to record the links for the highlights show. 7.30pm Tuesday he is in London hosting the footie coverage. And frankly the strain was showing. He looked rubbish and made a number of slip ups when speaking. What was up with Jim Rosenthal, he was only in France over the last few weeks, he should have done it. Oh well.

Introducing the football is probably the only thing Jim Rosenthal does well – he doesn’t do blinking like normal people; he can’t do puns – but tries awfully hard; and he loves seeing his own reflection in the camera lens – he never knows who to look at when interviewing people, it’s very unsettling having him on the screen.
